Having previously purchased 'House of Commons Guides' from 1945 to the present day I was eagerly awaiting the publication of this book which reprints the guides from books which are now impossible to obtain second hand. A must for anyone who is interested in the statistical history of British politics in this period, it details the nuances & explains how the National Governments of the thirties led to a situation where the conservatives held such a huge majority before WW2. This also explains how they where then able to lose such a huge majority in 1945, ten years after the last election had been held. A recommended purchase for anyone who is interested in history of politics in the Uk.
